RUNWAY WORK
One down and one to go! 18/36 is just about complete, the cracks
have all been sealed and the coal-tar sealant has been applied. By the
time you receive this newsletter 18/36 may be completely finished and
we’ll prepare to begin work on 08/26. The work on 08/26 will go more
quickly than the north/south runway because there are fewer cracks to
seal.
TIMELINE ON 08/26
Work on 08/26 is slated to begin in approximately one week. The
first week of July runway 08/26 will be closed and 18/36 will become
our primary/ONLY runway for takeoff and landing. This will make it
necessary to utilize the taxiway from 18/36 to taxi to and from the
ramp area. Be advised that this taxiway is UNLIT and is only 25 feet
wide. There is ongoing discussion as to whether the airport will be
for day use only during this time period.
AIRPORT CLOSED
There will be a 2-3 day period during the sealing of 08/26 where
the entire airport will be CLOSED!! Why? The area that connects the
ramp area to the runways will have to be sealed and painted, so there
will be no access to either runway during this short period. We’ll do
our best to get this information out to you but the best way to
determine if the runway or airport is closed is to check your local
notams thru flight service or online. Additionally, you may call us at
501-327-4559 for the latest information that we have available.
HANGAR DRAINAGE
The hangar drainage project, after some delay, is approximately
half-way completed. The trench has been dug on the south side of the
enclosed hangars and the north side is next. Give us a call if you
have questions about the timetable on this project.
THANKS!
Many thanks go out to everyone involved with the improvement
projects that we’ve had going on this summer! Everyone from the City
Council and Mayor to the engineers and construction workers should be
applauded!!! Thank you for your patience during this time of repair
and improvement.
