LIGHTING
There was a great article in the recent issue of Professional
Pilot. The subject matter was aircraft lighting. I’d encourage you to
subscribe to this wonderful magazine, it has many useful articles on
aviation and the best thing is it’s FREE.
The article spoke mostly of the etiquette of lighting. Did you know
that your nav lights should be turned on prior to starting engines
after dark? You should also turn your beacon on prior to engine start
but please don’t use your strobes. They tend to blind other pilots on
the ramp. You should never turn on strobes until you take the active
runway for departure and then make sure you turn them off when
departing the active runway.
Another issue was the usage of taxi lights. If you’re taxing down a
taxiway and your taxi light will shine in the face of an oncoming
plane, particularly one that is landing, you should turn your taxi
light off. I heard another useful one the other day. Don’t turn your
taxi light on when landing until you’ve heard the tower clear you to
land. It’s a visual reminder that you’ve been cleared to land.
Late Payments
A reminder that all payments on your account are due by the 15th of
the month. An increasing number or our customers are being charged
late fees each month. We’ve started a “no tolerance” policy on late
payments. If we don’t receive your payment by the 15th, you’ll be
billed a late fee.
HOURS
Our operating hours will expand to 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the
coming weeks.
